The Pontifical College Josephinum is quietly nestled into a now bustling community. But to step onto the campus is to step back in time and away from the hustle of daily life. It was cloudy on the day that I painted the belfry. I decided to find the essence of the color in the clouds and the strong brick tower in an effort to reveal what is truly present. This painting would later traveled to Japan as part of a good will art exchange between sister cities.
Katherine Crowley was born 1976 in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Miami University with a BFA and works professionally in the graphic design field. Ms. Crowley is a painter, bronze sculptor, photographer, and mixed media artist whose work has been exhibited around the world and is held in many private collections. Ms. Crowley’s artwork tells a variety of stories through symbolic imagery and design. Her work ranges from personal stories to iconic images of meaningful locations she has visited. Through her work she conveys personal symbolism, drawing influence from her childhood memories, traditional symbolism, and personally significant precious objects.
