At Whetstone Park of Roses there is a beautiful tower decorated with filigree. As a child I enjoyed climbing the
spiral staircase to look out over the beds of roses and pretend that I was Rapunzel, with hair long enough the reach back to the ground. In this painting, the sunlight and shadows dominate the foreground and Rapunzel’s tower is visible as the sun rises and strikes the rose beds.
Katherine Crowley was born 1976 in Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Miami University with a BFA and works professionally in the graphic design field. Ms. Crowley is a painter, bronze sculptor, photographer, and mixed media artist whose work has been exhibited around the world and is held in many private collections. Ms. Crowley’s artwork tells a variety of stories through symbolic imagery and design. Her work ranges from personal stories to iconic images of meaningful locations she has visited. Through her work she conveys personal symbolism, drawing influence from her childhood memories, traditional symbolism, and personally significant precious objects.
